A Large SliceŽ story is a true story that will uplift the human spirit
by making the reader smile, laugh, shed a tear or send shivers up
the spine. More than that, it will teach a lesson, or make a point in
such a way as to make the reader really think, and hopefully move
them to positive action in their lives or the lives of others.
With that said, A Large SliceŽ story IS a story - be it a story of
courage, conviction, overcoming the odds, giving, acts of love, etc. -
and must contain the basic elements of storytelling - a problem that
needs to be solved, action, suspense, well-developed characters,
interesting dialogue - and it must be written with a beginning, a
middle, and an ending that leaves the reader feeling empowered.
The stories chosen MUST appeal to all races and all religions and
all political persuasions.
What A Large SliceŽ story is NOT, is an essay about your favorite
teacher or an opportunity to express your views on politics or
controversial issues. They are stories "of the heart, from
the heart, and for the heart".
Note:
Please read our book descriptions carefully ie: as in the case
of "A Large Slice of Life's Most Embarrasing Moments to Go,
Please!", the empasis is on making readers have a hearty laugh.
If your story is chosen, we offer a combination of cash payment
and may or may not include a case(s) of the finished book that you can give
away to your family and friends upon publication. The amount of
cash will depend on the particular edition of A Large SliceŽ.
We would like to emphasize that a Large Slice of our mission is to help
needy children around the globe with proceeds from our books
going to the wonderful charities we support. We want our authors to
feel they are not only a member of our family, but also a part of that mission.
If your story is chosen for publication, we will contact you in regard
to financial compensation for the issue your story was chosen for.
A Large SliceŽ will have the right to edit such story, and you as the
author will have a simple non-exclusive agreement to sign and fax/mail back to us.
The guidelines for A Large SliceŽ Story are as follows;
- Tell your true story, keeping in mind the criteria above. If you are
not sure, please read these again. You may also submit a story
written by another person but please follow the below instructions
so we are able to contact the author.
- Make your story between 300 and 1,500 words. Feel free to
submit more than one story.
- If you were not the best grammar student in the class (don't
worry, neither was Rick:-) have someone you know who is well-
versed in grammar check over your story before submitting.
- Copy or paste your story in the appropriate field on our online
submission form. Include the author's name and contact information
in the appropriate field. Include a bio-a short paragraph (50
words or less) about you in the appropriate field.
- Upon submitting your story, you will receive an email
acknowledgement. Please do not reply to this, or email to enquire about the
status of your story submission. Due to the number of submissions we receive, we
regret that we cannot reply to each one personally. However, rest assured that
if your story is chosen for publication, we will contact you personally by email,
mail or phone.
